HELP! My life is in danger! (well almost)?

PLZZ help me! My computer has 98 infections of spyware and viruses! Anyone know an antivirus and antispyware for free (or money is ok too)? Now my computer keeps shutting down and there are these porno pop-ups making me in trouble with my parents (they don't know or understand what a virus or spyware is, I try to tell them). They think I'm going there. If I don't clean it and my parents see those pop-ups again, I will be grounded and be in great trouble. Please help me, every answer is appreciated greatly.

do this..

download a copy of hijackthis.com

http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.h...

then scan it and save a it log file

then go to http://hijackthis.de

and paste that result

It will tell you what kind spyware you have

and check it from hijackthis and fixed it (that will delete those entries)

Then use spybot search and destroy to kill it

Also,

go to add/remove programs and remove any unknown weird program

Good luck!!

we can not say with configuration.

Its the matter of how u r accessing net?

secured sites or not is the matter.
I would add one more antispy program. It is called superantispyware. It is very effective and it is FREE.
Wow. Your computer is a fortress compared to mine. I have

Windows Defender

Norton Internet Security

Norton Security Center

AdAware SE Personal
Great! But you could go for a better AV (like NOD32, PC-Cillin).
You have all the bases covered!
Unplug it from the net and the wall and it will be fort knocks... sorry had to throw that in there =P

On a more serious note I would swap AVG ainti virus for Kaspersky or Nod32 and get a router that will act as a hardware firewall for ever more security, other than that good job.
Its overkill and will cause conflicts as well as slow your system down. One active AV, One active Firewall, then go to grc.com and run an All Tests.

Norton AV from Yahoo slowed my system down. Dont trust freeware - is there any better alternative ou

Because its free im assuming theres a catch to freeware AV and Spyware

Try AVG works great

Uhm afraid of catches eh? IMHO, i've used freeware AV, but didn't have any catches. I use AVG (free version, but you can always purchase the Home Edition, or Commercial Edition) for my anti-virus, spy-bot search and destroy and CCleaner. All are free and safe from spyware, and you're free to donate a few measly dollars to help them maintain there products.

However, here's a list of commercially available, yet stable products for you to use:

Kaspersky anti virus

Spy-Sweeper

Bit-Defender Firewall

Trend Micro-Systems (PCCillin) AV

They're cheap, but powerful.

Ciao
I use, and highly recommend Norton, and I know that it will slow down your computer, but you can shorten the startup time and keep Norton by just limiting the amount of startup programs in Windows (do you really need Quicktime or any other extra software to take up startup time?) You can do that in msconfig (Start %26gt; Run and type 'msconfig') and uncheck some unnecessary programs from the startup tab, and that disables the applications from starting up with Windows without uninstalling them.

At the time of startup my computer uses almost 100% CPU, only System Idle Process takes about 95%,wh

All the time i work on the comp, it always displays about 10% CPU uses even when I work off-line , with office tools, I am worried if my computer is affected by viruses or spywares. I use a free version of AVG as anti virus system and no spyware detector. I want some advice.

Hi Dude, when the system starts up U dont have to worry if it reaches 100% CPU Usage as many Threads will be initiated. But see that this will go down after some time, if it does not go watch the memory usage of each Program in the TaskMGr. Also U need to know that the more the system is on the Idle, that means the more the CPU resourvces are Free.

Check out if some prices is taking more Memeory(Sort by Mem Usage), if some process is taking probably it is getting automatically started when the system is getting started. So go to ControllPannel/AdminTools/Services/ and sort out by all the Started Services. If U want to make any Service not to start as soon as the Machine i booted, chenget the settings here(Chenge tham form Automatic to Manual). Make sure that do not modify the System Services. U should be able to identify which one is a Windows System service and which one isnot????

Who knows What I should do to speed up my computer?

I wish I could download a COMPLETELY FREE program to clean up all the useless junk and spyware from inside of it.

I have spent days and weeks trying to fix this problem. I just want to be able to browse with my Verizon DSL and now, I'm not even sure if this has become one of the problems.

I want somebody to actually read this question and help me out. I know that this may sound boring or even a lost cause, however; I would really appreciate it if anyone could point me in the right direction.

I have thought about many things, including reformatting the computer but I'm afraid of losing some of the programs that I don't have the programs for like Photoshop.

Anyone... PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

Thank you in advance!

I use Ad-Aware and Registry Repair. I use those once a week, along with Disk Cleanup.

You can make backup disks and then reformat your hard drive.

You could add more RAM.
